ELMAG RGM 1550-3mm Mechanical plate shears

The easy-to-operate RGM motor-driven shears are designed for cutting sheet metal up to 3.0 or 2.5 mm. Their maximum cutting length is adapted to the oversize of standard formats and is 1,350, 1,550, 2,050 or 2,550 mm. RGM models cut through stainless steel and Nirosta without any problems, because they come with high-alloy special steel knives from Böhler. The upper and lower blades are precision ground, extremely wear-resistant and can be used on both sides. With a motor drive power of 4 kW, the RGM models have a high cutting force and are optimally suited for demanding continuous operation.

With a cycle rate of 35 strokes per minute - i.e. less than two seconds for clamping, cutting and lifting - all RGM models offer a very good performance characteristic for series production. The remarkably stable backgauge and the precisely guided upper frame ensure a high repeat accuracy even with large series. The backgauge is adjusted by turning a centrally located handwheel and fixed by means of a locking lever. With an adjustment range of 0-560 mm, a clean centre separation of standard sheet metal formats up to 1,100 mm is possible.

The monobloc welded constructions of the machine frame and the upper beam are extremely torsion-resistant and vibration-damping. All RGM models are therefore
highly resilient and durable. In their performance class, RGM guillotine shears are a technically very good solution for small and medium-sized metalworking companies and offer an excellent price/performance ratio. The cutting gap on guillotine shears is the distance measured at right angles to the cutting plane between the upper and lower blade - i.e. the horizontal distance between the cutting edges. The size of the kerf is decisive for a clean cut and depends on the sheet thickness and material strength. It is set manually or by motor, in CNC machines also program-controlled. The optimum value for the kerf size is between 3 and 15 % of the sheet thickness. For small sheet thicknesses the edge infeed should be as low as possible. For greater sheet thicknesses, the kerf is selected so that the cutting grooves on the upper and lower edges of the sheet run evenly towards each other. This ensures good dimensional stability and economically optimum operation of the machine with low cutting force and low tool wear.
